Recent Daily Derenger's

My buddy's girlfriend yelled at him yesterday for not carrying her purse. She was serious, too. However, she wasn't carrying a washer and dryer up the stairs or holding 12 bags of groceries. Rather, she was carrying nothing and wanted him to carry her heavy purse.

"I have worked all day. Why can't you carry my purse for me? It gets heavy with all the stuff in it," she whined in a thick Russian accent.

Unable to resist while also being thankful I was single, I chimed in.

"Well then take some of the heavy shit out. And besides, he's worked all day, too. You think the last thing he wants to do when he gets home from work is carry his girlfriend's purse whether it's heavy or not?"

She's foreign and didn't see that my comments, although legitimate, were also sarcastic and directed right at her. We laughed it off once in the car, but I knew a new
Daily Derenger had landed in my lap.

Aside from the two parking tickets that will go unpaid and the climbing over a non-sturdy gate to get into this apartment complex, Los Angeles has been quite nice of late. Tonight a friend not only paid for a movie, In America (check it out, something different with young actresses who are destined for stardom), but also my beers and two slices of pizza. I'm always up for a cheap night on the town, whether it be a Monday night or otherwise.

This brings me to my question of the evening: why is it that when you're out with a buddy and you're not drunk but he is, he feels compelled to show you his ass upon leaving your car and making his may into his house? Maybe it's a sign saying, "Thanks for driving" or "Hey, I paid for your fun tonight, now check out my ass."

Do girls do things like this? If so, I will be buying the drinks tomorrow night, ladies!

So the most recent Hollywood news had David Spade doing a set at the Melrose Improv last night. I was there with some friends to see Jeff Klinger, a comedian from Chicago. It was nice to see Spade do his thing the same way all comedians do it: trying out new material written on a notecard positioned on a stool near his bottle of beer. But unlike most of us, he was welcomed after his set by a super model and then they hopped in his Porshe and returned home to open another royalty check from "Meet Joe Dirt."

Jimmy Kimmel was there as well, to support his girlfriend, comedienne Sarah Silverman. Not sure about their vehicle, but certain "The Man Show" and "Win Ben Stein's Money" checks are nice, too.

And that's it from your Daily Derenger Hollywood Report.

Two friends and I went for a late dinner to The Cheesecake Factory in Old Town Pasadena last night. I drank water, they each had two glasses of wine and two Michelob Ultras, respectively. For appetizers we had chicken pot stickers and buffalo chicken strips. Our dinner selections were as follows: I had a pizza, Lauren had chicken madeira, and Jay had chicken romano. There was no room for dessert.

We were at The Cheesecake Factory, not the Cheescake Cafe or the Cheesecake Shop, but the Cheesecake Factory. A factory is where it all happens, yet none of us got any cheesecake. I guess the name is still catchy and the place has good food.

Tomorrow lunch is at Burger King. I'm craving their tacos.

Do you really need to be on a cell phone at the gym? I mean come on. What important call can't wait 30 to 45 minutes? If you feel you're so important that you have to take or make a call, perhaps you need a gym in your own house.

I must say that running or even driving in the Pasadena area is quite the event with the palm trees, snow-capped mountains and temps in the 70's.

I'm stuck at a Kinko's paying for this, so I'm off to do other things. Like book a flight to Denver and e-mail my stories to the Herald News. Have a great day!
